Redes de mercenários na historiografia grega

O presente texto examina passos-chave de historiadores gregos antigos em que são narradas a atuação de mercenários com base em redes de apoio que teriam constituído. Busca-se ressaltar outros elementos que tornavam a relação entre mercenários, arregimentadores e comunidades de origem ou recepção algo mais complexo do que tão somente uma relação de pagamento por serviço executado. Por fim, discutem-se duas consequências da atuação coordenada desses mercenários: de um lado, sua transformação em base de apoio de reserva; de outro, e talvez a consequência mais significativa, o perigo nem sempre somente latente que a presença desses mercenários em uma comunidade acarretava, sobretudo quando motivados a agir de modo concertado e dispondo de ocasiões para tanto.
