To address the materiality and space of film in the field of visual arts, it is important to approach and analyze some works that experimented with the limits of the medium and went beyond the traditional cinematic form. In this sense, the works “Cosmococa: Programa in progress” (1973), by Hélio Oiticica and Neville D’Almeida, “Chelsea Girls” (1966), by Andy Warhol, “9 Scripts from a Nation at War”, by Andrea Geyer, Sharon Hayes, Ashley Hunt, Katya Sander, and David Thorne, and “Vacuum Room”, by Aernout Mik, are addressed here to talk about the conditions of presence and participation of the public in front of the screens in art spaces, as well as the use of the sensory aspects of the screens and other elements that make up these proposals.
