Impacts of the Teacher's Cultural Capital on Student Teaching/Learning

Abstract

Considering that the cultural capital of a student is built through his interpersonal and family relationships and as he seeks to deepen his knowledge about subjects of his interest and that this capital is usually added by the family, until the moment the student enters school, from then on, his cultural capital is no longer built only by his family, but by his teacher and the school where he studies. The purpose of this research is to investigate what the administration of the Municipal Education Network of Joinville/SC thinks about the fact that the teacher is a source of cultural capital for their students, and how much this administration has invested in the training of their teachers, understanding that it is not enough just to have knowledge about the subject of school planning, but also a continued training to meet the demands added by students who have only the school as a source of search to have a broader cultural capital. To this end, a descriptive research methodology is used, through a data survey, with the objective of raising information about the group studied and verify if it has been invested by the school administration, in an appropriate way and with incentives for teachers to seek continued education.
