Abstract

The Chemical Subproject of the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora a, in 2019, due to the large number of participants, was divided into three groups. One of them worked in a municipal school, located in the city of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, where they can develop different activities. One of them was a project entitled Healthy eating, through which it was possible to address different aspects related to this theme: Gastronomy, consumption, economy and food culture. The students were invited to conduct a survey and present it, as well as reflect and discuss some issues such as the relationship between healthy eating and the cost and the influence of advertisements in the choices for food products. At the end, to identify the construction of knowledge by the class, we applied three questions, one of them, a collage of figures that would make up a basic basket, considered ideal, according to the principles of healthy eating. Through the responses, it was possible to see people’s concern with less purchasing power to buy nutritious foods, as well as the criticality in relation to foods that have beautiful packaging, but are not healthy, leading to obesity. The collage also showed us attention to alcoholic beverages, which can have origins in different reasons. However, it led us to think about the importance of the school's role in this aspect.
