Extensionist practice and afrofuturism

The aim of this report is to present the processes that resulted in the creation of the Reading Circle, created in the Perobal region, in the southern part of the city of Londrina/Paraná, in 2022, by students and researchers from undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the State University of Londrina (UEL) who are part of the Extension Project, "Itinerant Praxis: new perspectives for young people and populations in vulnerable situations". The data and experiences described here were correlated with bibliographical references from research on the subject of Afrofuturism and black identities. In the course of the report, the difficulties and challenges encountered during the socio-spatial research are presented, as well as the approaches to the institutions of the territory in order to better understand the demands of the people who live there. Specifically, it describes how the Afrofuturist perspective was used through a literary work to address common themes among the adolescents who attended the Reading Circle.
