This article aims to discuss the conditions of entry of backcountry women into bands of cangaceiros from 1930 onwards, the year in which Maria Bonita inaugurated the female presence in Cangaço. Thus, Lampião is highlighted as the one who allowed a change in the structure of bands of the time. The women will remain until the end of the gangs, in 1940, and unlike what has been said, they did not weaken the groups, on the contrary, it will be clarified how important they were in the resistance, organization and identity of the group, despite being inserted in an environment full of violence. Therefore, researches were consulted that valued the memories of these women in order to build a work that problematizes the place of the sertaneja at the time, as well as their ways of life.
