Nos propomos, neste artigo, a analisar as singularidades visuais do altar funerário de Laberia Daphne, originário de Roma entre os anos 90-120 d.C., e compará-la a outros monumentos similares. Acreditamos que a análise da iconografia do altar, no qual a figura feminina é retratada sem os cabelos, pode suscitar relevantes discussões, não apenas acerca da importância do cabelo feminino dentro da identidade das mulheres romanas, mas também dentro da configuração e entendimento da cena retratada. Levantamos, também, a interpretação de que a substituição do cabelo por algo que se assemelha a uma coroa de folhas, pode indicar uma representação que visa atribuir à homenageada uma honra que raramente era concedida a mulheres: a coroação.
