Abstract

We present the translation of the article published by Albert Einstein in 1917. In it, he introduces, for the first time, a cosmological constant, a term that today plays a very important role in the standard model of cosmology. Some introductory comments are presented, followed by the Portuguese version of the text originally written in German.

  • Júlio César Fabris, Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo

     Júlio C. Fabris é professor titular do Departamento de Física da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES) e pesquisador do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Suas atividades científicas versam sobre física teórica, com especial ênfase em cosmologia e gravitação.

    Oliver F. Piattella é Professor Adjunto na Università degli Studi dell'Insubria, Como, Itália. Foi professor do Departamento de Física da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES), e pesquisador do Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento (CNPq), de 2012 a 2021. Atua nas áreas de cosmologia e gravitação, tendo publicado mais de 50 artigos científicos e um livro-texto de cosmologia intitulado Lectures notes in cosmology (Springer, 2018).
