In this article, we describe the patterns instantiated by the procedural VLoc construction and we analyze the formal and functional properties that characterize them in a sample of contemporary brazilian portuguese. We start from the hypothesis that these patterns can only be captured if we take into account the use of language in an effective situation of communication, as advocated by Functional Linguistics Centered on Use. For that, we resorted to 40 interviews available in the Project Brasilia that does not read Database (BORTONI-RICARDO, 2009). Through assumptions of the Grammar of Constructions (GOLDBERG, 1995; CROFT, 2001; TRAUGOTT; TROUSDALE, 2013; among others), we explain that verb and locative evidence a strong integration of the subparts and they create a pairing of form and meaning, beginning to act at the pragmatic-discursive level, sometimes as a modalizer, sometimes as a discursive marker. In addition, they are used to direct the interactional dynamics: sometimes the focus is on the speaker, indicating subjectivity, sometimes it is on the interlocutor, showing intersubjectivity.
