The bond that Community Health Workers establish with families creates opportunities for the violence against women to be identified and the situation monitored by the health team. Despite this, Community Health Workers report difficulties in implementing these actions. The objective of this study was to analyze the discourses of Community Health Workers about the barriers that make it difficult to address violence against women in Primary Health Care. A qualitative study was carried out, based on Critical Discourse Analysis, in its Dialectical-Relational approach (Fairclough, 2003), with the participation of 33 Community Health Workers from Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Interdiscursivity was established as an analytical category for understanding the discourses, which were analyzed in an interdisciplinary approach, considering contributions from authors on Ideology (Thompson, 2011), Cultural Studies (Woodward, 2014) and Gender Studies (Segato, 2003). The results were organized into themes: work processes; characterizations of the territory and social actors; conceptions about violence; barriers. It is concluded that overcoming barriers to coping with violence depends on adequate training processes and management models that value the work of Community Health Workers.
