The present work addresses the experience of PIBID/Biology/CEUNES in a school of the municipality of São Mateus/ES from the perspective of this school community and scholarship students who worked in the program. The impacts observed on the teaching and learning process and on the motivation and participation of students in science classes are discussed. The reports of the school community demonstrate how the involvement of PIBID/Biology/CEUNES contributed to the improvement of students' interest and to the pedagogical practice of teachers. On the other hand, the lack of communication and the absence of interdisciplinary actions at school were pointed out by the pibidians as challenges that need to be faced to improve teaching. Based on the results achieved at school in partnership with PIBID/Biology/CEUNES, it is concluded that the knowledge produced collectively in a mutual aid system can break the technical and vertical barriers of the training process in any instance, being a fundamental step towards better coping with the difficulties experienced by the school community.
