In this work we investigate the use of origami as a didactic resource in the discipline of mathematics. The research was developed to propose activities to be carried out in an elementary school, in a 3rd grade class, in the city of São Mateus, however in the current context of accelerated transmission of the Covid-19 virus, the study was carried out with only a 3rd year elementary school student from a municipal school in that city. Thus, we approach the possibility that origami is a resource that helps in geometry classes and contributes to the learning of geometric concepts. To this end, a qualitative case study was carried out whose instruments for data collection were observations and audio recordings in class. The study is based on the theoretical contributions of Sheng et al. , Giraffa and Rancan, Duarte among others, who discuss pedagogical practices in mathematics classes. The results of the research show that the folds contribute to the learning of basic notions of geometry.
