The central concern of this theoretical essay is focused on the presentation and discussion of issues that permeate the Brazilian youth world today, especially related to consumption and the role of polytechnic education for a more humane, critical, reflective and less capital-oriented formation. This essay was constituted in a qualitative and dialectical approach, produced through bibliographical research and documental analysis involving authors such as Abramovay (2013), Borges (2017), Dayrell (2003), Enne (2010), Moura, Lima Filho and Silva (2015 ), Ramos (2008) and Saviani (2007) among others. As repercussions, it is assumed that polytechnics contributes to the integral development of youth in order to build material conditions for the youth to develop life projects based on concrete class-conscious actions, reducing seduction to media appeal.Downloads
