Vygotsky's contribution to special education

Abstract: This research arose from the need to investigate some aspects of Vygotsky's theory regarding inclusion. Aiming to find out what Vygotsky's contribution to special education is, providing subjects with development and learning through interaction with other beings, emphasizing his contributions to the inclusion of children with special needs, with respect to any space in which these subjects come to participate . Inclusion is an essential process in the lives of children with intellectual disabilities / down syndrome, since it is through inclusion that these children can actually earn their citizenship, independence and autonomy. The methodology used in conducting this research was the bibliographic, where it was sought through some works of Vygotsky, to synthesize which contributions regarding special education with regard to the learning process, and other scientific works that dealt with the aforementioned theme of education aimed at the learning of subjects with disabilities. Through the collection of all researched bibliography it was possible to perceive that the inclusion process of people with intellectual disabilities / down syndrome becomes possible through the opportunities and perception of each environment, with regard to the visibility and perception of those who were affected by this syndrome, thus leading to advancement on the part of those who have the understanding that the inclusion process is something that can be achieved, and there may also be a setback on the part of those who have not yet obtained the knowledge and understanding that all those with disabilities in the if the intellectual disability / down syndrome are liable to obtain any knowledge offered to all others without the disability. The reading and discussion of the described by Vygotsky based on socio-historical theory demonstrates the contribution of the theorist in understanding the process of inclusion of children with disabilities in the various social contexts. Given the above, this research concluded that the contact of the disabled child with other subjects, can provide them with a better level of learning and development. However, the social environment to which these subjects come to become becomes fundamental in their development process.
