This study investigates the theatrical action mediation in University Extension activities, considered from the perspective of a horizontal and dialogic approach regarding the strategies and postures of the artist educator when teaching theater in extension activities. From the observation of guidelines present in the extension normative documents and based on the work of authors such as Paulo Freire and Augusto Boal, the practice developed in the author's doctoral research is analyzed. Through the opening of an extension course at Federal University of Bahia, and grounded upon the use of theatrical language techniques aimed at social discussion through the scene, the author offered theater workshops to teenagers of the city of Seabra, Bahia, where games, improvisations and debates were proposed. This practice resulted in approach principles for theater teaching, and showed that the procedures used within these critical pedagogies have guiding and efficient instruments for the theatrical action mediation in University Extension activities.
