Children of the future, a look at the past:

an experience report at the Social Center “Rebuild Life”

Abstract

This work presents the experiences of the Supervised Internship in Education in Non-School Contexts, of the Pedagogy Course, at the Federal University of Espírito Santo - UFES, carried out at the Centro Social Reconstruir a Vida, in the municipality of São Mateus – ES. The objective of the work carried out was to carry out a historical cultural recovery, together with the children hosted by the Social Center, so that we could work on valuing the space that is understood as the Historic Site of São Mateus – ES, located in the Porto neighborhood. For this purpose, we used as theoretical support Gohn (2010), who supported our research with regard to education in a non-formal environment, Freire (2014), to work on the relationship of generating themes relating the needs of the group, and for this notion of collective construction and self-management, we brought Gallo (1997), among other authors who deal with Culture, Heritage, and who have done work on the place where this project took place.
