Introduction: In Brazil, violence against women continues to rise. From 2022 to 2023, there was an increase in rates of various crimes with female victims. In total, 1,238,208 women experienced violence in Brazil in 2023 alone, not including underreported cases. It is also evident that systematic and official statistics are still insufficient to reflect the true magnitude of this issue, especially because violence against women often occurs silently and insidiously, particularly in domestic settings. In addition to harming health, violence is understood to reduce the quality of life of both individuals and communities. Objective: To identify, through published literature, how violence against women affects quality of life. Methods: A literature search was conducted on health and violence against women, considering national and international journals published between 2019 and 2023. Results: Of the 12 articles found, 5 were included in this narrative review. They were analyzed based on participant characteristics and sociodemographic context; the instruments used to assess quality of life and measure violence; and the results found in relation to this review’s focus. Four publications found a statistically significant negative correlation between quality of life and violence, and one publication found a significant negative correlation between quality of life and the risk of experiencing violence. Conclusion: The occurrence of violence and low quality of life are correlated, reinforcing the importance of intersectoral interventions.
