O presente artigo examina a questão da origem de Pitecusa, uma antiga cidade grega, localizada na ilha de Ischia, no Golfo de Nápoles. Ele investiga as disputas históricas sobre os fundadores da cidade e avalia a validade dessas narrativas. Ao longo dos séculos, surgiram diferentes teorias, que atribuem a fundação de Pitecusa a diferentes grupos étnicos gregos, como os eubeus, ou aos fenícios. O texto analisa a evidência histórica e arqueológica por trás dessas teorias e propõe uma reflexão sobre como entender a complexidade da antiga Pitecusa.
