The article presents a study on the construction network [(X) CORRER SN]FOC in Brazilian Portuguese in the light of the Usage-Based Construction Grammar (UBCG), a theoretical model which supports assumptions developed within the scope of Usage-Based Functional Linguistics (LFCU). Thus, it is intended to present the results of a research on the argument structure construction [(X) VSN]FOC in which the lexical construction <CORRER> emerge in the slot corresponding to the verbal item of this shema. We argue that besides the focalization role inherited by the most abstract schema [(X) VSN]FOC it is possible to argue for the existence of lower-level constructions in the [(X) CORRER SN]FOC network which still hold proper meaning/functional information.
