A talk-in-interaction sequence of a teacher talking to a student’s mother in a public school is important to notice how some aspects of social interaction that go beyond formulaic expressions (e.g., “she will be fine”) gain contours of real and legitimate concern within other embodied actions simultaneously implemented at talk. The resources used in this analysis help to compose the participant observation framework that caracterize the investigated field. Since Conversation Analysis can help to understand human actions in a social situation, especially if the mobilization of resources of different semiotic natures is considered, this article concludes that the technological and economic advances that allowed cameras and microphones become increasingly portable and accessible, new possibilities for ethnographic investigation are consolidated with the use of these devices. In addition, a new perspective of work that overcomes the linearity of time is discussed.
