The article proposes, firstly, to present the concept of the body by an anthropological view, when conceiving it as a symbolic complex and a means of cultural expression, which carries within itself the mark of social life, being a representation of society. Secondly, this article seeks to analyze the ways in which athlete’s bodies were depicted in Attic imagery during the Classical Period (5th-4thcentury BC), highlighting the diversity of their scenic models. We will argue that the iconographic scheme of depicting Hellenic athletes’ bodies according to an Apollonian model, however hegemonic, was not the only one in use.
