This study aims to identify the challenges faced by Brazilian women traveling alone and understand their perspectives. It reflects on the process of seeking female independence around the structural machismo present, both in everyday life and in the context of tourist activity. Feminist movements had value on this journey and represent their achievements in an expressive way. In this context, female identity is less and less influenced by traditional family roles. To obtain results in the research, there was a focus group, through a virtual meeting with five volunteer participants, who have experiences traveling alone. The reports were the basis for the analysis that seeks to point out and highlight the challenges, perspectives and achievements relevant to the central theme. The results indicate the search for self-knowledge, motivated by the desire for a sense of freedom and opposition to social paradigms, including in the family context.
