About the Journal
The Farol Journal is a biannual publication of the Graduate Program in Arts at the Federal University of Espírito Santo. As an academic initiative, connected to the field of Arts / Visual Arts, the journal is open to texts that aim to discuss the problem of formation and artistic, critical and historiographic assigned for the visual arts. It also strives to provide research experiences, which are open to the fields of knowledge, between consensus and dissent, in a contemporary context.
Current Issue
This special volume of Farol is dedicated to the reflections made at the 4th International Congress on Creativity and Innovation 4.0: poetics, ethics and criticism for the recreation of citizenship, conceived by the Brazilian Association of Creativity and Innovation - Criabrasilis and held in partnership with the Postgraduate Program in Arts of the Federal University of Espírito Santo, in Vitória. The thematic dossier, organized by Professors Asdrúbal Borges Formiga Sobrinho and Stela Maris Sanmartin, begins with the reflection of international speaker Margaret Mangion, absolutely aligned with the principles of the event. The researcher explores the connections between creativity, innovation and citizenship to understand how these dimensions contribute to technological advances that reshape social norms. She presents the concepts that serve as catalysts to promote innovative mindsets and creative solutions that challenge traditional limits and the status quo. By promoting environments conducive to creativity, she indicates that communities can engage more deeply with complex ethical considerations and cultivate a critical perspective on innovation and its social impacts. It outlines a path towards a society where creativity and innovation serve not only economic development but also the enrichment of democratic life and the promotion of sustainable and inclusive progress in the 21st century. The articles cover Creativity and Innovation from a historical and conceptual perspective to practical application in specific contemporary fields.
